Dr. Elizabeth Selvin, Director of the Welch Center for Prevention, Epidemiology and Clinical Research and Professor of Epidemiology and Medicine, Johns Hopkins
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems are considered a valuable development in the management of diabetes as they enable real-time monitoring of glucose control.1 However, for decades, laboratory measurement of hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) has been the standard approach to monitor glucose control in patients with diabetes, as there is strong evidence that illustrates the correlation of HbA1c values with both micro- and macrovascular complications.2, 3, 4, 5
Dr. Selvin will evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of each blood glucose measurement and discuss the use and interpretation of laboratory HbA1c measurements alongside CGM technology in the care of patients with diabetes.

Join Us for an Exclusive Webinar: Transforming Patient Care with Point-of-Care CRP Testing
Discover how point-of-care C-reactive protein (CRP) testing is revolutionising clinical decision-making, empowering healthcare professionals to quickly distinguish between viral and bacterial infections in the community. This not only enhances antimicrobial stewardship but also helps keep patients at home, reducing unnecessary trips to the ED.
Hosted by Una Health, this webinar will explore the powerful impact CRP testing can have on patient pathways, providing timely care where it is needed – in the patient’s home. Don’t miss this chance to be part of an engaging discussion.

CRP testing at the point of care: Supporting implementation, a POCT managers perspective
Understand how point of care teams are helping clinical teams implement lab quality, traceable results at the point of care.
Non-communicable diseases increase in prevalence as the population ages. They are the major cause of mortality and healthcare expenditure globally. Diabetes, a major type of noncommunicable disease¹, currently affects 10.5% of adults globally, with almost half unaware that they are living with the condition².
In this episode of ADLM Laborastories, Siemens Healthineers POC Medical Director Dr. Ian Lentnek talks with Dr. Zehra Yonel, Academic Clinical Lecturer at University of Birmingham in the UK. Dr. Yonel shares her insights and latest research on how allied healthcare professionals like dentists can help address this public health concern, through early screening.
